Heir to Castle Grandrock, Harley was of average talent and not considered with any importance by the Duke of Vance, his father. Yet he was always very close with his sister Lesley. To get his father's attention, he practiced conjuring to make it seem like he had magical abilities. Yet this had the unexpected result of getting him kidnapped. Lesley rushed to his rescue, and in the midst of his crisis his mighty magical powers were awakened. The two of them then proceeding to fight their way out. Ultimately, Leslie sent Harley to live and study at the Academy of Magic.
